Here in GA, we’re being attacked by snow and ice. It’s quite funny to us northerners that the entire place shuts down, but we don’t mind a bit! P-man is very happy to be playing in the snow, and it’s great to have hubby here! I had to get out of the house this morning, so I headed out to JoAnn Fabrics. Closed. Everything is closed. So I turned around and headed home. On the way, I have to drive up a little hill. I saw the cars slowing down, and then stopping. Stopping. On ice. I slowed down as much as I could, but I had to stop. Of course, I couldn’t get going again, so I gave the driver who caused this whole mess the stink-eye, and threw the car into reverse, built up momentum, and got up the hill. If you can’t drive in the snow – don’t drive! Now I know that people down here can’t drive in the snow, so I’ve resigned myself to staying at home until the weekend. Good thing I have all that frozen food in the basement! Red beans and rice for dinner, with some canned fruit. I’m guessing people won’t think I’m so crazy for canning after this storm!
How was everyone’s Thanksgiving? Ours was great, and included canning 3 cases of cranberry sauce! It’s getting pretty cold here, so we put plastic up on our windows – big difference! This is a great way to save money and stay warmer. We’ve decided not to use a heat lamp on the chicks, and they seem to be adapting to the cold weather ok. I do feel bad for them though! We are preparing to visit family for Christmas, so things are getting a little crazy. 1 more week to get everything in order! What is everyone else doing for Christmas?
I just finished canning my first batch of bbq sauce! Hubby said it tasted great, and I hope it still does in a few months! Every jar sealed, so that was encouraging. I think next I will be canning collard greens, as they are cheap at the farmers market. Also, I’ve been told that Aldi’s has cheap cranberries, so I see a day of canning cranberry sauce in the near future!
Anyone have any tips on getting a 3 y/o down for a nap? He isn’t the one who needs it… I do! Oh well. I’m looking forward to making tile coasters. It’s a great, inexpensive craft, perfect for the holidays. Why not get a jump start?
Happy Halloween everyone! My little P-man overcame his huge fear of everything Halloween, and went trick-or-treating! He had a great time! Also, my patterns for diapers came in yesterday, so while hubby is out of town, I will start the task of sewing P-man some new dipes! Yay!!! Please keep your fingers crossed for me as I delve into this new territory.
